Putting together the comprehensive approach-another example
Putting It Together For example: {and this is purely and complete fictitious} -say a famous male ice skater Presenting Symptoms - chronic pain -on many addictive meds --and childhood abuse from his mom, -plus a body dysmorphia, -and recovering{5 years} anorexic. -depression with suicidal thoughts -fast cycling mood shifts; -avoidant to sad to shame and anger. Social Problems Are: -He has no current job, -pain,depression,addiction make work functioning "impossible" -poor finances -a failing relationship, The workup and treatment plan would be, after consults: -A treatment team of a psychiatrist- -and pain and addiction management MDs - a central DBT therapist and psycho dynamically oriented therapist, who is also case manager or team leader{the dialectic} - acupuncture/or Felton specialists for the pain { seems to be that chronic pain often connects to"abuse centers"can't say, that this correlation resembles Vedic or Oriental concepts, but at some point we may have empirical evidence that unifies medicine and healing] -A DBT group - a gentle dietician, plus job training or school for skating or sport career. Positive ongoing recovery: A new spirit and gratitude for a new start that breaks the negative conditioning, processes the PTSD and regulates and unravels the complexes over time . Then we have a functional creative person in the moment grateful and accepting that life and relationships have pain, but it is OK. Some things are harder than others but there is hope with hard work, motivation and help. written on 6/15/2008
